Bio
Silvia Dumitru (b. 1989, Bucharest) has written about tent weddings on the streets of 1990s Bucharest, second-hand shops, music festivals, drones in agriculture, perfume and her own open-heart surgery, all while wanting to write a book.
In 2024 she did. Noaptea nu uită (Humanitas) became a Romanian bestseller and is in development for film. Critics have compared her to Elena Ferrante.
She is a journalist, copywriter and screenwriter, has travelled to more than 35 countries and still loves rock ’n’ roll. Above all, she is very busy being a “good enough” mother to her daughter and their three cats.
Noaptea nu uită — Girls Without Periods (working English title) · 152 pages · 36,000 words · Humanitas, March 2024 · Set in Bucharest, summer of 2019
